CAROLINA COLOURS COMMUNITY LAYOUT
Bill Love, the acclaimed architect who designed the Carolina Colours golf course, is also a skilled and trained land planner. Carolina Colours is therefore one of the few master planned communities whereby both master land planning and golf routing were carried out by the same man, allowing for great integration. With more than 1,500 acres of residential and recreational acres with which to work, and with the non-residential component of the community identified, liberal open spaces were combined with generous golf course acreage to create a comfortable, uncrowded community. Dictated by the natural conditions, large home sites dominate the central core of the community, and follow Brice Creek, while the north and south ends of the tract, as well as the Carolina Commons area on Carolina Lake, support smaller sites and homes, because these areas are flatter and have fewer trees.
With miles of bench lined sidewalks, often set back from the adjoining streets, Carolina Colours is filled by those walking for exercise or fun (yours or that of your dog). Its bike lane on Waterscape Drive and its low-density cul-de-sacs are great places for cyclists. And with the core of its amenities completed – golf, clubhouse/fitness, swimming, pickleball and tennis – clustered in the center of the community, surrounding a central parking area, all active recreation is conveniently accessible.
